Pulveraktivkohle

What is... Powder activated carbon

Powder activated carbon is a fine-grained adsorbent that is particularly suitable for purifying liquids. It is used in the chemical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, food processing and in water treatment.

Features

The choice of the appropriate type depends on the nature and concentration of the substances to be removed. Powdered activated carbon is characterized by rapid adsorption and high effectiveness in liquid media.
Powdered activated carbon is available in two fundamentally different types:

Silcarbon TH90

A fine-pored material that is particularly suitable for removing small molecules such as chlorinated hydrocarbons, pesticides, oils, and aromatic compounds.

Silcarbon CW20

An open-cell material that is primarily used to bind larger molecules, such as food colorants.

Applications

Powder activated carbon is primarily used to remove organic contaminants from liquids, including:

  • Drinking water and process water treatment
  • Purification of foodstuffs, e.g., sugar or edible oil
  • Removal of pesticides, oils, and aromatics in the chemical industry
  • Pharmaceutical applications for the purification and decolorization of solutions
